Overview

About the Trishuli trip

The Trishuli is the river that introduces most anglers to fishing in Nepal. It's the most accessible: a 3-hour drive from Kathmandu or 4 hours from Pokhara, right along the Prithvi Highway. It's the most flexible: we run 1, 2, or 3-day versions of this trip and you can pick the format that fits your schedule. And it's the friendliest: Class II–III water, comfortable resort options, no expedition logistics.

The fishing is real, though. The Trishuli holds Golden Mahseer, Catfish, Trout, and Eel in the same water. Local guides know the productive pockets — Charaudi, Kuringhat, Simaltar, Benighat. Most groups land fish on day one. The river also has cultural and scenic depth: it's named after the trident of Lord Shiva, who according to legend struck the ground here to create three springs. The Langtang range is occasionally visible to the north on clear days.

We recommend this trip for first-time anglers in Nepal, anyone with limited time, families with kids, and travelers who want fishing as a single component of a wider Nepal itinerary. It's also our recommended starter trip before a longer expedition — you learn the techniques, meet the team, and confirm the format works for you.

Common questions

Questions about the Trishuli

1 day works as a side-trip if you're driving between Kathmandu and Pokhara — a half-day fishing session before continuing your journey. 2 days is the sweet spot for most first-time anglers — you get a full day on the water plus arrival/departure. 3 days adds a second productive section (Simaltar) and is worth it if you want a real fishing trip without the expedition commitment.
