Morning pickup from your Pokhara hotel (around 6:30 AM for prime fishing). Drive to Phewa or Begnas (your choice). Meet the boatman, gear setup, and on the water by 7 AM. Morning is the prime fishing window — fish are most active. Lunch by the lake. Afternoon session focuses on quieter waters as the day warms. Return to your hotel before sunset. Optional: stay for sunset photos with Machapuchare reflected in the water.
Pokhara Lakes Fishing Day
A scenic full-day lake fishing experience in Pokhara — Phewa or Begnas, traditional wooden boats, Annapurna in the background, no expedition logistics.

About the Phewa & Begnas Lakes trip
Sometimes the right fishing trip is a quiet day on a lake. Pokhara has Nepal's best lake fishing — Phewa Lake (the city's main lake, with the Tal Barahi temple in the middle) and Begnas Lake (10 miles outside town, quieter, more solitary). Both hold a serious mix of fish: Mahseer, common carp, catfish, Sahar, and Asala. Both have traditional wooden boats for hire. And both offer the kind of scenery — Annapurna and Machapuchare in the distance — that's hard to match anywhere else in the world.
This is the trip we recommend for first-time anglers, families, couples, and anyone whose Nepal itinerary already includes a Pokhara stay. It's a single day, easy to book, and adds a different texture to a Pokhara visit. The fishing is calmer than river fishing — slower-paced, more meditative, more conducive to conversation with the boatman. Catch rates are decent year-round (lake fishing isn't shut down by monsoon), and the species mix is genuinely diverse.
We arrange boats, gear rental, fishing permits, and local guides at either lake. Pickup from your Pokhara hotel, drop-off after sunset. Add lunch by the lake or back at your hotel. The whole experience is designed to be effortless — the opposite of an expedition.
Your 1 Day itinerary
A detailed breakdown of every day on the trip — from Kathmandu pickup to final return. The schedule can shift based on river conditions and group preference.
Itineraries are a guide, not a contract. River conditions, weather, and group needs can shift the schedule — your guide will brief you on any changes the day before they happen.

Questions about the Pokhara Lakes
Phewa is busier, larger, and has the iconic Tal Barahi temple in the middle. It's better for first-time visitors who want both fishing and scenery. Begnas is quieter, less developed, and has a more solitary feel — better for guests who want fishing focus and don't mind the 25-minute drive from town. We can do either or both.
